Warriors Men’s Indigenous Jersey 2022: A must-have item for Warriors fans. Developed in partnership between PUMA, Te Tairawhiti-based Ta Moko artist Maia Gibbs. Rongowhakaata. Ngati Kahungungu. Henare Brooking. Te Amokura, the Indigenous jersey 2022 is a strong symbol of our connection. It will be worn in round 12 against the Newcastle Knights on Saturday 28th May, to celebrate the NRL Indigenous Round. Te Amokura’s jersey takes its inspiration from the same bird. The Amokura is well-known in the Pacific, Australia, and Aotearoa. Great navigators in Pacific helped to map the largest body of water anywhere in the world with the Amokura. It is most well-known for its distinctive red elongated tail wings. These are highly prized by Te moana, ni Kiwa chiefs. These are represented in the two red stripes that run down the jersey’s rear. The club’s identity is represented by the colours. However, the colours also represent the journey of the club and the sacrifices made to get away from their family, friends and supporters. Blue is mana Maua. The Pacific ocean is the link between Aotearoa and Australia. This ocean is our collective whakapapa. Green is the symbol for mana whereua. Aotearoa recognizes Australia to be the true home of the Warriors. Our Aboriginal whanaunga (original peoples of Australia) who have welcomed our team the last three seasons. Red represents mana tangata. As the players move onto the field, they are connected to each other by the people. Te Po stands for learning and development. White symbolizes Te Ao where expression is possible. The jersey functions as a Korowai, which is a cloak that covers a wearer. It is not only their jersey, but also a symbol representing their personal journey. It’s a symbol of cultural identity, as well as our shared connection with other Indigenous peoples around the globe. This jersey is identical to the one worn by Indigenous round participants.
